I remember watching an interview of Charles Schulz, done a few days after he retired. And I found myself crying when he sadly said something like “you know, Charlie Brown never got to kick that football!”I think I know how you feel, Rico.
To a certain degree, we all identify with Charlie Brown. You know he’s going to whine, worry, and what-not but you know he’s still going to try and kick that foot ball.
It’s been a recurring theme/gag in many of Charles Schulz’s strips, one that we all enjoyed through the years. What’s magical about it I think is that we’re all secretly hoping that, one of these days, ole Charlie is going to get lucky and get in a good kick.
I think the reason why you cried is that now that Mr. Schulz is dead you know that Charlie Brown is never going to be able to kick that football.
And in someway, that means we’ll never get to ourselves.
