As the movie continues to enjoy box office success, not to mention the resurging popularity of the Graphic Novel by Frank Miller (currently at no.8 at Amazon), a number of controversies have plagued the movie, some of which are:
- Racism in its portrayal of Persians.
- Being labeled as part of a series of Hollywood films with political overtones aimed predominantly at Iranian and other Asian cultures.
- Whether George W. Bush is represented by Leonidas or Xerxes in the movie.
Me, I think it’s a load of sh*t. George Bush!? Really now…
People are always going to see whatever they want to see in anything. I think it’s pretty much a given for everything. But you have to question the state of mind of someone who can even think that Bush can represent either King Leonidas or Xerxes.
Anyway, all this attention can only mean good things for the movie and the Graphic Novel.

I really hate how certain people take offense simple retelling of historical facts because it offends their 21st century sensibilities.
It’s their objections that are RACIST and OFFENSIVE because they want to rewrite history.
It’s 2000 fucking years in the PAST. Those people are ALL DEAD. Get the fuck over it!
Jonas, feel free to edit my post. Di pala pwede swearing dito. he.he. Still, it only shows how OFFENDED I am by the STUPIDITY of some people.
I don’t get it myself. At the end of the day it’s a good movie that I enjoyed immensely. Nothing more and nothing less. Like I said, people sometimes read too much into things.
About the swearing, OK lang yun. I have to refrain from swearing when I am here (as opposed to when I’m in http://jonasdiego.com) but you on the other hand…he he he!
Feel free!
Damn. Stupid. Iranian government branded 300 because they wanted to cover their hidden agenda and to justify their word war againts US AND Israel. The government of Iran is nothing but a potential copycat of the government of Hitler. Who uses any propaganda to subjugate their fellow people.
300 is just a movie and based on the reviews that I have read all over the web—its purely movie! A movie that aims to revolutionize film making NOT A POLITICAL PROPAGANDA.
Damn politics.
John: Reminds me of people who get offended when you greet them Merry Christmas.
Pareng Jonas, those people are brained wash by their mentors and leaders.
