I…I…I don’t know what to think.

At the moment, judging from the conversations at different forums, people either hate it or love it (no middle ground). Too early to tell right now where the majority will go with this.
This may merely be a clever misdirection on Marvel’s part, however steering our attention somewhere else while they set up another act in the unfolding story of Captain America. Or it could really be the new direction for Cap after all. Frank Castle (aka The Punisher) was the one who picked up the Shield Slinger’s mask after he was shot.
One thing’s for sure: that star spangled costume will never be the same when you throw in the skull logo in there.
Right now, your guess is as good as mine.

Para lang itong nung namatay si Superman… ang daming weird na incarnation ni Superman na gusto pumalit sa kanya.
Gerry: Yeah, preminds me ng mga drawing ni ed Mc Guiness. May lalabas pang ibang incarnations ni Cap niyan tapos babalik din ang one true Captain America after a year or so. He he he!
I think this is something good, at least tinanggal nila yung symbol that reminds everybody of America. I think it (Cap/Punisher) also emulates the real America–The Punisher! So, if it goes by the same name–nothing’s changed.

Well with this kind of marketing stunt done by Marvel on their civil war, they have just ruin some of their storyline including the stories of the Guardians of the Galaxy in the year 3000 which is told by the Watcher. I don’t want to cut off the hype of everyone regarding the Civil War since it got lots of fans across the globe But what I am thinking that the loopholes made by some Editors was ignoring some of storylines such as what happened when the Earth was invaded by Martians(which is told by the Watcher in the pages of Guardians of the Galaxy and Galactic Guardians).A lot of Heroes died on that storyline including Captain America. Oh yeah, they will just resurrect them again, used time warping and other gimmicks. For me it is this kind of stories that sometimes makes superhero comicsbooks annoying. They are just keeping us from telling us “HeY! CAP is Dead and he has a replacement!”. Duh, this has happened several times in Marvel World and DC. I hope this civil war that Joe Quesada is telling to us would be definitely serious and would end our impression on the “Super Hero Comic Books”.
John: Yeah, Marvel probably retcon it somewhere once it contradicts something in their storyline. DC does the same thing.
Not to act like a total comics nazi, but Frank Castle picked up Cap’s mask after he was captured in the last issue of Civil War, not after he was shot.
Anyhoo, I’m one of those who hate this image. Whether it’s real or just a good ol’ Marvel prank, it just looks too Rob Liefeld-ish to me. LOLZ

Come to think of it, you’re right (about the Rob Liefeld-ish part). All Frank needs now is a pair of humongous shoulder pads.
