The movie was one of the most testosterone-filled movies I have watched for quite some time.
Adapted from Frank Miller’s graphic novel of the same title, 300 is loosely based on the Battle of Thermopylae where 300 Spartans with 700 Thespians led by King Leonidas of Sparta blocked the only road through which the massive army of Xerxes I of Persia could pass.
Relentless, action-packed, and moving doesn’t even begin to describe the movie. Several times during the screening we found ourselves applauding and/or cheering during key scenes. The movie-makers deviated a bit from the storytelling novel and even added scenes that was not originally in the graphic novel but remained true to the spirit of the source material.
A word of caution, however…
There is an overabundance of blood, gore, and sexual innuendos throughout the movie so this is a movie definitely not for kids. Make no mistake, though. The blood, gore, and sexual innuendos are a crucial part of the storytelling and push the tale forward.

I’ll try to catch this in the big screen. Medyo matagal na pala akong di nakakapanood sa sinehan.
Maganda siya. Mas maganda on the big screen. Kumpleto ang movie experience mo.

John: Aba at nagyakag pa ng date. Ha ha ha!
Pero sabagay. I wouldn’t mind seeing it again. Sama natin si Fafa Myke. He he he!

John: Humahataw kasi si Myke. First graphic novel niya kasi.
thanks for this review. i’ve seen the trailer, and i thought it’s a movie worth watching out for. i just hope it gets to Ozamiz. *sigh*
I can relate. There was a time when it took ages for a movie to reach us in Batangas and it was just a few hours away from Manila.
How long does it normally take to get there?
about a month normally, for hollywood films. and only if it’s a certified blockbuster. they’ve often shown trailers of movies which never got shown here, so it’s frustrating. i still prefer watching movies on widescreen rather than on dvd.
but it’s simultaneous for all Star Cinema flicks.
It might be too early to say but I think it’s going to be a hit so hopefully it’s going to be hitting your local cinemas in a month’s time.
watched the first showing yesterday and boy was i blown away!!
btw….
no posts about captain america’s death!?!?
Jayvee: Scheduled for tonight actually though to tell you the truth I am still in denial over his death.
