Mano Productions is currently looking for a Character Designer as we embark on the very first all-Filipino animated feature length film. We are based in Alabang and are currently in the process of setting up our second in-house animation facility for this project, along with a full-featured Vicon Motion Capture studio.
Core Job Responsibilities
As the Character Designer, you are responsible for exploring a wide variety of character styles using your traditional drawing skills. You are comfortable receiving and implementing direction and make good self-directed decisions in times of ambiguity. In creating original compelling character styles, you are able to draw from a variety of influences to give the widest range of choices and aesthetics. You make good decisions with grace under pressure. You seek and offer help readily. You enjoy being part of a team.
Responsibilities
Working with the Director, Art Director and CG Supervisor in the creation of original compelling character styles, taking into account any previous designs, styles, directions, and guidance set down by the Producers.
Creating pose sheets, facial expression sheets, color conceptual and orthographic blueprints.
Ability to create compelling characters and characters scene sketches which can be modeled in 3D, and which serve the goals of the production’s story.
Contribute solutions to visual problems and understand the film’s overall aesthetic and implement this in the design and model packaging.
Communicate the design through drawings to the technical team and animators.
Establish clear direction and set objectives.
Qualifications
Filipino
Production experience as a character designer.
Demonstrate versatility, excellent perspective and strong design skills (i.e., character line art examples, expression sheets, turnarounds of characters).
Demonstrate the ability to communicate creative and technical thoughts and ideas.
