MOVIE: Bridge to Terabithia (No Spoilers!)

leave a response

It’s easily one of the best movies I’ve ever seen so far but let me tell you right now: it’s not what you think it is…at least not what I thought it was.

I’ll just leave it at that. I did say this post will have no spoilers after all.

Bridge to Terabithia is a children’s fiction book written by Katherine Paterson first published in 1977. The first movie version of the book actually came out in 1985. The 2007 movie version stars Anna Sophia Robb, Josh Hutcherson, and Zooey Deschanel.

Just caught the movie earlier today and thoroughly enjoyed the movie. I particularly fell in love with Anna Sophia’s performance in the film. She reminds me of a very young Keira Knightley with a bit of Kirsten Dunst thrown in.

This kid is going places!

Hope to get a copy of the book soon (Powerbooks, here I come!). If the movie is this good then, with any luck, the book should be much, much better.

Anyways, the movie comes highly recommended. In fact I give it…

Go watch it!

I saw it yesterday, too. Great movie, but I’m afraid many people are under the impression that this movie is similar to Narnia or LOTR. I even thought it was a full CGI movie because of the poster!

I’d also like to recommend “Pan’s Labyrinth”. But be warned, it’s not a children’s movie. :)

Next movie on the horizon: 300!!!

Hiya, Pat! I agree. Having not read the book and with the trailers as my only basis, I was also under the impression that it was a fantasy type movie. Despite being somewhat mislead however, I don’t regret having seen the movie.

Pan’s Labyrinth? Will check it out if I can. Thanks for the recommendation.

I got my tickets ready for 300’s advance screening. Wohoo! :D

we took our two kids to the movie (ages 9 and 7) and we all absolutly hated it. i then called 2 other parents who took their kids and they said that they all disliked the film as well. my advice is to kep this movie as a renter and not see it in the theatre.

Mary: A friend had similar sentiments about the movie. Different strokes for different folks, I guess. Thanks for dropping by! :)
