The John Beatty Signing

leave a response

I arrived at 1:00 PM at the Comic Odyssey’s Robinson’s Galleria branch at about 1:00 PM for John Beatty’s signing event. John, extraordinary inker for a number of titles for both DC and Marvel comics (Batman, Captain America, Secret Wars to name a few) and all around illustrator, arrived five minutes earlier and already there was a long-ish line waiting for his signature.

Fans were carrying books for him to sign and some also had comic book backing boards (the thick boards one sees accompanying new comic books sold to make sure they don’t get bent) for John to do quick sketches on.

Arriving almost at the same time I did, Gilbert Monsanto (Tropa, Rambol) was milling around checking out the various merchandize at the store. Soon enough we were joined by Edgar Tadeo and Gerry Alanguilan together with his wife Ilyn Florese.

I had a chance to talk with John Beatty as he was sketching and I found him to be a very nice guy to chat with. Topics revolved mostly around “shop talk” and the various tools of the trade we use.

Also at the event was Azrael Coladilla, Reno Maniquis, Randy Valiente, Fero Benedict, and Oliver Pulumbarit.

To John Beatty, it was nice meeting you and hope to talk to you again sometime soon. Check out Gerry’s post about John here and Edgar’s post here.

Hi, Adrian and thanks for visiting! I’m trying to create a list of Pinoy creators making webcomics and I came across your site.

Keep on making web komiks! :)
