I drew this in response for a call-out for pin-up by Budjette Tan for his horror title, Trese.

Basically, I drew the figures and composited the background using elements from various photographs using Adobe Photoshop. Newbies (and indeed a few older artists) think they can skip learning about drawing backgrounds (vanishing points, horizon lines, etc.) because they can just use photographs and Photoshop to create it.

But even when you’re using photographs (and just to make it clear, I am not against using photographs as backgrounds) the rules still apply.
